Joseph Ave Center for Performing and Visual Arts Renovation
Renovation of a former synagogue, dating from 1926 and now on the National Register of Historic Places, into a Center for Perfroming and Visual Arts, a community focus for education and performance. Â This project has been identifgied in a 2013 Vision Plan for the Joseph Avenue Corridor and Rochester s Northeast Quadrant as a major focus for area revitalization. Â Project incorporates usage of surrounding vacant properties as well as demolition of derelict properties. Â Project is centered in Rochester s poorest neighborhood. Separately the Westlake Report, commissioned by Rochester s City Council in 2016, identified the need in Rochesgter for a 275 seat theater amenable to dance, music and theater -- which is our deliverable.
