Amneal Pharmaceuticals, a generic pharmaceutical manufacturer needed to expand their facility to increase manufacturing capacity and their global competitive edge in the marketplace.  Long Island needed Amneal Pharmaceuticals, and Amneal needed Long Island. What cemented the match, in the face of competition from New Jersey, was the LIREDC and ESD. LIREDC had declared biotech and international trade as keys to our future, and the global generic drug manufacturer wanted to expand through infusions of capital and partnerships with LI’s world-class research facilities.  In spring 2011, ESD helped Amneal find State incentives available to keep the company on Long Island.  Amneal’s CFA so impressed the LIREDC that the Council recommended one of its largest grants, $3 million.  Then Amneal invested $100M to add 364,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing and warehouse space, retain 702 jobs and create 400 more.
