The Village of Frankfort is looking to purchase underutilized property (parcel 1799) adjacent to the Frankfort Marina currently owned by the New York State Canal Corporation located between the Mohawk River and Railroad Street in the Village. Acquiring these three additional acres will allow the Village to expand the Marina's recreational opportunities to include campsites, recreational trail, 2 new boat and fishing accesses. The Frankfort Marina currently is a very popular community site hosting picnic areas, a boat dock with fueling station, open space for fishing and hiking, restrooms, laundry facilities and a restaurant. Many community residents frequent the Marina, and during summer months it is used by the many boaters on the Erie Canal. By purchasing this parcel, the Village will be able to develop new recreational opportunities for the residents and boaters as well as improve an underutilized green space in the community.
