[div][br /] [div]Project is a capital expenditure on infrastructure to support a planned economic development initiative that will create opportunities for small business owners to open new, or expand existing stores to provide much needed neighborhood goods and services. The project will spur development that will create jobs in a neighborhood where only 1 in 4 residents is employed. [br /][br /]The grant will fund the design and construction of site infrastructure to support future development as part of the creation of a Latin American village plaza to be called La Marketa. This will be the first phase in what will ultimately be a vibrant, mixed-use destination with regional draw that offers ethnically diverse food, goods & service vendors, and a public open space to be known as a “placita” or plaza. La Marketa is planned to create a vibrant cultural center in the El Camino neighborhood that celebrates the Latino community that is the fastest growing constituency in the city.[/div] [br /][br /][/div]
