Global Competitveness through Automated Manufacturing
The project is designed to increase the global manufacturing competitiveness of Transonic Systems while remaining an employer of highly-skilled manufacturing personnel in NYS. A CFA award will enable Transonic Systems to meet a growing worldwide customer demand for low cost, disposable, high-quality surgical-grade instruments. Expensive and time-consuming manual processes are preventing the company from manufacturing enough quantities of our gold standard products to meet those customer requirements. Transonic will deploy innovative robotics technology and advanced manufacturing materials from NYS suppliers at our current location in Ithaca NY. This will enable us to reduce the complexity and expense of manual processes and scale our ability to produce consistently high-quality sensors and probes at up to 20 times the current rate. To support the projected increase in production we will expand our workforce and upgrade the skillsets of current employees (via a Manufacturing 4.0 Automation project). By automating the most expensive aspects of production we will reduce our cost of goods by 60%
