Explore and Learn Long Islands' Innovation Heritage

The Long Island Science Center located in Downtown Riverhead is a 501(c)3 STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) Learning Museum with a mission to prepare young people for a 21st century economy built on advanced technology and innovation. Using curiosity and creativity, the Science Center unlocks children s passion for problem-solving and discovery with STEAM curricula, programs, and interactive museum experiences. The Science Center planned expansion will significantly contribute to Long Island s economy through:1)workforce development - engaging young children in STEAM education. Not enough children pursue STEM: By high school, only 36% boys and 11% girls are interested in STEM. 2) contribute to joint downtown revitalization efforts by the Riverhead ; Southampton to revitalize the Downtown Riverhead/Riverside area.3) raise the visibility of Long Island s Innovation Heritage outside of New York State by developing an interactive website to support expanded exhibits and programming highlighting Long Island s rich history of invention, technological advancement and scientific discovery.
