The Airport has embarked on a program to modernize its facilities and provide a higher level of customer service and customer experience while also including the use of innovative technology in these facility improvement plans. This strategy has started to catch the attention of possible new carriers. This shovel ready project will include the replacement of all four of the existing baggage claim units. The new units will not only operate more efficiently but also provide innovative technology that could allow for the electronic tracking of bags and address baggage facility security needs; a second component of the Terminal Building Improvement program is the replacement of 93,000SF of the Airport s Main Terminal roof, originally installed in 1964. The final piece of the construction project is the replacement of twenty four (24) vestibule doors and two sets of ADA-compliant handicapped doors that were installed in 1990. The new energy-efficient door system will include modern safety mechanisms and a redesign of the vestibule structures to include air curtains that will allow the Airport s heating and cooling systems to work more effectively
