Ithaca/Tompkins County proposes to construct and operate a regionally significant Community Conference Center, to be located in the heart of Downtown Ithaca. The two-story center will be sited into the new Vecino Asteri Complex, a major landmark 11 story mixed-use building that will include 217 units of affordable housing, 350 public parking spaces, retail, and a 49,000 SF conference center. The center will have a 12,285 SF ballroom, along with prefunction space, breakout rooms, and back of the house space. This configuration would make the facility the seventh largest in upstate New York, as well as the largest in the Southern Tier. The facility would seat 820 for banquet style and over 1,100 theater style. The project was scoped by nationally recognized Hunden Strategic Partners (Chicago), who also undertook the in depth analysis of demand and feasibility. Concept drawings and construction estimates were prepared by the David Geisel of Convergence Design (Kansas City), a nationally renowned architectural firm specializing in conference center design. It will employ 60 FTEs (yr5), have 62,600 in annual attendance, and create 22,000 new annual room nights
