The County will construct a year-round Regional Farmers' Market (RFM) facility that would provide locally produced foods and goods in a sheltered structure that is easily accessible to producers and consumers. A recently completed Feasibility Study to determine the need, costs and location for a RFM concluded that Broome County's Otsiningo Park was the preferred site due to interstate access and visibility, recreational setting, site-control and the existing community gardens. Otsiningo Park is a regional tourism destination located just north of the City of Binghamton. This project will address the growing demand for fresh and locally produced foods, provide a direct sales outlet for regional farmers, create a covered park event venue and provide the opportunity for increased recreation, agri-business and economic growth in upstate New York.
