City of Cortland Community Child Care Project

The City of Cortland will invest approximately $3,997,000 to redevelop the former Parker School Building at 84 Madison Street in Cortland, Cortland County. The newly renovated building will be home to YWCA which will be operating a licensed childcare center for 108 children ages 6 weeks to 5 years as well as a summer camp and before and after school program. The YWCA component will include 4 infant, 4 toddler, and 3 pre-school classrooms utilizing 34% of the building. Cortland County Community Action Program will also be in the facility operating Early Head Start and Head Start classrooms for 60 preschools and 24 infants and toddlers. This component will include 3 infant/toddler and 4 pre-school classrooms utilizing 31% of the building. Cortland County Community Action Program will also utilize the commercial kitchen space to expand preparation/serving meals for all Head Start and Early Head Start programs (over 168 meals). The City of Cortland will also be moving administrative offices from the current city hall to the new facility allowing City Courts and Police Department to meet their additional space needs.
