This project, Phase 1 of “Park for the Arts focuses on the rehabilitation of the Roosevelt II Bathhouse, vacant since the 1980 s, in the Saratoga Spa State Park. OPRHP has begun preliminary rehabilitation of the building, including restoration of systems to current building codes. This project, focusing on the interior of the building, will provide vitally needed year round spaces where art in multiple forms will flourish. A teaching kitchen, wellness studio, black box theater, art gallery, rehearsal and learning space will be created to provide artists from all over the region a place to make and showcase their work, transforming the building from an empty shell into a vibrant integrated center for creativity and expression to include the culinary, healing, visual and performing arts. Under a lease arrangement with OPRHP, SPAC will operate the facility with the mission of establishing the Park as a unique international cultural tourism destination, benefitting the entire region. The project will lead to increased visitors to the Park and expanded opportunities for educational, creative and cultural enrichment benefitting diverse and underserved populations
