Port Schenectady

Dagen Trucking and Logistics (Dagen), a national heavy haul transport company, is proposing to construct and operate heavy lift and special cargo capacity maritime infrastructure on the NYS Canal Corridor in Schenectady County for the purpose of enhancing the competitiveness of manufacturing companies in Upstate New York and opening up export and import opportunities for the regional economy. To accomplish this project, Dagen will partner with Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority, NYS DOT, maritime transportation and manufacturing enterprises in and around the Capital Region, including the Port of Albany and others. Dagen will commit to a long term ground lease on land east of lock 8 on the NYS Canal where it will build maritime infrastructure, specifically a barge slip and crane system. Tasks include reconstructing upland road/track access, building wharf infrastructure and purchasing a crane. The expected outcome is that regionally manufactured cargo can be loaded for shipment via water to the Port of Albany (or other points even points west) for transport to customers around the country, and more often export throughout the world
