Governor Hochul Announces Southern Tier Winners of Downtown Revitalization Initiative and NY Forward Program
Governor Hochul and Senator Schumer announced that BAE Systems is investing $65 million to expand operations in the Village of Endicott, Broome County. The company will add a total of 150,000 square-feet to its existing site to make way for the addition of a new battery production line and lab space, and new office space. As a result of the expansion, the company has committed to creating up to 134 good-paying jobs onsite.
The main way to seek NYS funding is the Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) portal, which is used for dozens of agency offerings. Some programs are open year-round, but most programs are open during the annual "round" that typically runs from May-July.
Grow-NY is a business competition focused on growing an enduring food and agriculture innovation cluster in the Grow-NY region. The competition attracts innovative, high-growth food and agriculture startups from across the globe and engages them in the region’s rapidly-growing startup ecosystem.
Finalists will pitch their business ideas for a chance to win up to $1 million.
Winning companies will be required to execute bold plans to grow jobs, connect with local industry partners, and contribute to a thriving Upstate economy.
$3 million will be awarded each year to seven startups. The top prize is $1 million.
The 2024 Grow-NY Summit took place on November 6-7 in Ithaca, NY.
Spotlight: Raymond Corporation
The Raymond Corporation is repurposing an existing building located on Corporate Drive in the Town of Kirkwood, establishing the Energy Solutions Manufacturing Center of Excellence that will enable Raymond and its parent company to develop a more diverse portfolio of energy solutions as industry demand for electric products continues to grow. The new facility will continue to support its longstanding presence in New York State and its ‘green’ product line via the assembly of advanced energy solutions, including lithium-ion battery packs used in Raymond lift trucks. As a result of the expansion, The Raymond Corporation has committed to creating up to 45 new jobs. The company has begun the process of renovating, equipping, and operating at this facility and expects to be fully operational sometime in 2025. This announcement builds on the significant work being done in New York State and the Southern Tier in the energy storage and advanced battery industries.

Governor Hochul announced the Hamlets of Roxbury and Grand Gorge, located within the Town of Roxbury, will receive $10 million in funding as the joint Southern Tier Region winners of the seventh round of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative during a visit to Binghamton University. The Village of Groton and Urbana/Hammondsport will receive $4.5 million each as this year’s Southern Tier region NY Forward winners.
